Twaha’s Story

Today you can help us save the sight of more children like Twaha

With a gift today you can help fund life-saving surgery to remove cataracts.

When Twaha was born, his mother noticed visible white spots in her son’s eyes. Twaha was her third child, and this was not something she’d seen before.

Twaha and his mother share their last emotional but happy moments before Twaha is taken to the theatre for surgery at Mengo Eye Hospital

“I knew that there was a problem with his eyes,” she says.

She brought him to the national hospital in Kampala, the capital. But the family had very little money. They had recently lost their house and had to move back to the village.

His mother tells us,
“These things hurt me. He is an intelligent boy who can’t see well. Some children fear him, but he loves to play with them. He often bumps into them or knocks them over without ill intentions. But the other children think he’s trying to fight. He is always apologising.”

The most frustrating thing is that we often have the answer! The surgery to correct his vision and restore his sight is well-known. It can be done with little fuss and in a short period of time. Please donate today to help giving sight saving surgery to children like Twaha.

That miracle is out of his family’s reach now. But you can help today. Will you join other caring people and send a gift now?
