The gift of sight is life-changing for children like Ramadhani
Did you know? If you give €250 or more to CBM in a calendar year, your donation could be worth 45% more.
For years, Ramadhani would wake up fearful. How much would he be able to see when he opened his eyes that morning? The 10-year-old from Tanzania was diagnosed with bi-lateral cataracts when he was just an infant, and since then, his sight has been slowly taken from him.
That wasn’t all that was stolen, though; cataracts took pieces of the boy’s childhood, the ability to kick a ball and play with friends – and his right to an education. Whenever Ramadhani was asked what he wanted most, his reply was always the same: “I want to go to school!”
He’s never been. Mother Jena didn’t dare send him to school as every attempt he made to cross the street was life-threatening. “Trucks and buses come down this street very fast and Ramadhani cannot see them,” she says. Who would look after him when she wasn’t there?
For children like Ramadhani, your gift this Easter could change everything
This Easter, bless another child like Ramadhani with sight
The family earns 42 cents a day, and with four children to feed, travelling to a big city and paying for medical expenses isn’t feasible. Finding help for Ramadhani was out of reach.
Then one day, a miracle happened: CBM’s Outreach Clinic, funded by CBM supporters like you, came to Ramadhani’s village.
CBM Outreach Clinics bring life-changing medical care to thousands of people every year. And we’re happy to report that Ramadhani was assessed and referred to the CBM-funded KCMC hospital in Moshi, Tanzania for surgery.
Blindness had turned Ramadhani into a quiet child, hesitant and shy. But after his sight-saving surgery, that changed: he could play football and learn to read, and the joy that brings him is palpable.
There are thousands of other children who won’t ever get to see – unless they have your support.
