Call for Artists: Help Shape a Fairer and Sustainable Future with CBM Ireland
CBM Ireland, in collaboration with key project partners, is seeking talented artists or collectives to create highly interactive, participatory, and accessible artworks for the Funding Fairer Futures (FFF) climate and social justice project. This initiative is all about amplifying the voices of often marginalized communities and ensuring that their experiences and expertise shape the climate movement.
What is Funding Fairer Futures?
Funding Fairer Futures is a transformative, global, project aimed at making the climate movement more inclusive. The initiative focuses on empowering diverse groups—including youth, disabled people, communities, women, and ecofeminist organizations—to advocate for a just and sustainable future for all. It offers funding, capacity building, and opportunities for grassroots climate action, with an emphasis on gender equality, disability inclusion, and youth leadership.
The Artwork Brief:
We are looking for artists or collectives to create works that reflect the spirit of this initiative. The goal is to produce a series of artworks that are not only inspired by, but actively involve, the people directly engaged in the project. Your work should capture the lived experiences and stories of participants, while showcasing their perspectives on climate justice and the journey toward a Just Transition that is the theme of our collective campaign.
Key Details:
Budget: €96,000 total for a series of four artworks. You can apply for individual pieces (worth €24,000 each) or a full set of four pieces, to be delivered over a period of up to 3 years.
Timeline: The first piece should be delivered by May 2026, with subsequent works to follow. The final piece must be completed by May 2028.
Submission Deadline: March 31, 2025
Start Date: June 2025
How You Can Contribute:
Whether you work with traditional or contemporary media, your creative vision should involve the participants from diverse communities and reflect the values of Funding Fairer Futures. We welcome proposals for both physical and virtual exhibitions, ensuring accessibility for all audiences.
Payment Structure:
- 30% upon contract signing
- 30% once 50% of the budget for each piece is spent
- 40% upon completion of the artwork
Assessment Criteria:
Submissions will be evaluated based on:
- Impact and creativity
- Public engagement potential
- How well the work reflects the diversity of the participants
- Clear deliverables and a realistic budget
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview.
