Working with disability

For people in the developing world a disability can be a death sentence. For many children it is: 80% of children with a disability die before they are twenty. CBM is committed to helping people with disabilities across the developing world. And this commitment is a monumental task.

  • An estimated 370 million people (or 7% of the world's population) are disabled.
  • An estimated 30 million people are deaf. A further 20 million are hearing impaired.
  • Approximately 30 million people are physically disabled.
  • An estimated 100 million are intellectually challenged.

Besides our work battling against blindness CBM and our partners give rehabilitative care to thousands of people. Our work helps to liberate them and their families from a cycle of poverty, disability and exclusion.
